Remember that shampoo bar by Emily’s Homestead that I go on and on about in this post? (& this post and this post!) Well Emily of Emily’s Homestead also creates an amazing bar of soap that consists of oats, goats milk, honey, and a couple of other oils.
I’ve been using the Dr. Alkaitis Organic Facial Cleanser for several months now and have had great results with it. The cleanser has plant based enzymes in it that lightly exfoliate the skin which has done wonders for my acne. I was feeling like the enzymes in the cleanser were getting to be a bit much for every day use though, and was wanting to integrate a more nourishing cleanser into my routine. The first nourishing ingredient I thought of was goats milk; and when I saw that Emily made a bar with goats milk AND honey and oats I was thrilled!
Goats milk, honey, and oats are known for being ultra nourishing. Honey also has some purifying and SUPER gentle exfoliating properties. I also find that bar soap always feels just bit gentler on my skin than liquid soap does. Basically this beautiful bar of soap handcrafted by Emily hit all the marks and more in regards to what I was looking for in a cleanser.
I’ve been alternating using Emily’s bar of soap and the Dr. Alkaitis Organic Facial Cleanser each night and it is the perfect cleansing combination for my sensitive and acne prone skin. It also has made for a great body bar and the soothing scent of honey and oats is absolutely lovely.
The bar is made with honey fragrance (for a slightly sweeter scent!) and without honey fragrance. I opted for the bar of soap that did not include honey fragrance. The bar that I have linked to in this post does contain honey fragrance as the other is out of stock but should be back in stock by the 1st of the new year.
