Fall is here and to say that I am happy about it is an understatement. We had a particularly hot and long summer this year in the pacific northwest and I am not a fan of the heat.

Once September 1st hit I started to think about all things fall; sweaters, boots, scarves, deep vampy lipstick, pumpkin pie, and fall candles.

There are plenty of candles out there that are made with soy wax as opposed to petroleum but there are not quite as many out there that are scented with pure essential oil. Most of the candles that I looked at were scented with both essential oils and artificial fragrances.

Candeo Candle is a small family owned candle business that is fairly local to me. They have an entire line of candles that are made of 100% soy wax and that are scented with just essential oil. I didn’t come across any candles in this line that had ‘fall’ names but I did find one that fills my apartment with an aroma that is warm and perfectly spiced. The candle is called Medieval Essential.

Medieval Essentials has a warm aroma with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and pine. It reminds me of a chai tea latte and the smell of the forest – or sipping a pumpkin spice latte while walking through a park on a brisk fall morning.

I assume that the chai-like scent that I smell in this candle is from cinnamon bark essential oil, clove oil, and nutmeg oil. These oils also bring out a smell reminiscent of pumpkin pie.

I got my Medieval Essential candle at my local health food store. Candeo Candle is also available online. Be sure to check out your local health food store for locally made non toxic fall candles and be sure to give all the scents a whirl even if they don’t have a classic fall name.
