Good morning everyone!
Like many others, I love fall. I love it for the weather, the holidays, the leaves, the color scheme, the pumpkin spice (would I be a true lover of autumn if I didn’t?), and of course, the vampy, plum and wine colored lips, and the warm eye shadows.
I feel like the plum and wine colored lips have been a reoccurring trend in fall make up for quite some time, however, the orange eye shadow is a little bit newer. I have been wanting to try an orange eye shadow look for a while now so when I went to do my make up yesterday morning and didn’t know what I wanted to do as far as eyeshadow, I figured I might as well give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. I decided to pair it with a bold plum lip and a plain black and grey outfit.
I found that the key to the orange eyeshadow look is to build up to the orange color. This means using more than one transition shade and more that one orange colored eyeshadow. In my last post I talked about how I was making the switch to green beauty, I have to say that I havent made it to eyeshadow yet in this process so for this look I used some Morphe shadows. The shadows I used are from the 35N – 35 Color Matte Eyeshadow Palette.
I started out by sweeping a bright flesh toned shadow all over my lid, crease, inner corner, and up to my brow bone. Then I messily dusted the cool toned brown on the far left in the photo above into my crease. I chose to use a cool toned brown so that the orange shadows wouldn’t be too overwhelmingly orange.
Then I went in with the lighter orange shade in the middle and used it as a second transition color on top of the cool toned brown and packed the color onto my lid. I think that using an orange transition color with orange eye shadow looks is absolutely necessary in order to keep the look from being too extreme.
Now for the star of the look, the very warm toned orange shadow on the far right.(It’s also the orange color that is swatched in the photo at the top of this post). After laying my transition colors down I took a small crease brush and put a good amount of color in my outer crease and the outer part of my lid. Then I took a fluffy brush and buffed the product out and in toward the middle of my eye.
The lip color that used is Alima Pure’s Lip Tint in the shade ‘Blackberry’. I’ll be talking more about this product in my next post.
