Non Green Beauty Products I Use In My Pro MUA Kit

Story time. Once upon a time I was a 20 year old who fell in love with the idea of ‘green beauty’. I had realized that college or an office job were not the right fit for me, and had a budding interest in makeup for several years at that point. I dreamed up becoming a ‘green beauty makeup artist’. I didn’t broadcast this (as many people still weren’t familiar with the term ‘green beauty’) but I did begin to research, practice, and seek out opportunities to gain experience.

Now, 4 years later, I actually do consider myself to be a Professional Green Beauty Makeup Artist. Of course, I am not providing services right now due to COVID-19, but I look forward to continuing in this work once it is safe to do so.

I have  many beautiful and high-performing ‘green beauty’ products in my kit that I use regularly. After doing a lot of searching however, I have confirmed that there are certain makeup products that simply do not have high performing ‘natural’ options for.

Here are some of the non-green beauty products that I use regularly in my kit for their performance and functionality.

Urban Decay All Nighter

This product is known better than any other product in the industry for locking makeup into place, even for those with the most oily skin. A product like this is a must in a Pro MUA kit.

NYX Brow Gel

I use their clear gel and their tinted brow gels. Brow gel is an excellent way to define the brows quickly. It also gives the brows an effortless and relaxed look which my clients and myself love. There are a few green beauty brands that have released brow gels in the last couple of years but I have yet to try any of them.

MAC Eyeshadow Primer

I have tried SO many ‘green beauty’ eyeshadow primers and have yet to find one that gets the job done.

MAC and Viseart Eyeshadows

What can I say, these just blend out so beautifully and are so pigmented. About half of the eyeshadows in my kit are from green beauty brands like Root Pretty and Sappho New Paradigm. The other half are from MAC or Viseart. I do use my Root and Sappho eyeshadows regularly but I use my MAC and Viseart ones a little bit more.

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner & Mascara

As a pro MUA I have to have waterproof options for these product in my kit and there are no natural waterproof makeup formulas that I know of at this time.

House Of Lashes Lash Glue

Again, there are not natural options available for this that I am aware of.

RCMA Foundation Palette

I go back and fourth between this and the RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover Up for foundation and concealer. Both are great options and I find that I have many clients who are more well suited for one than the other.

Non green beauty products I plan to add to my kit…

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

The reasoning for this is the same reasoning for using UD’s All Nighter. Some clients simply have very oily skin and need long lasting and oil controlling products in order for makeup to stay in place.

Charlotte Tilbury & Mac Nude Lipsticks

Green beauty offers some bea-u-ti-ful red, berry, pink, and orange lipstick shades. But green beauty seriously lacks in the nude lipstick shade department. CT and MAC have iconic and versatile nude shades that out-perform all others in terms of lasting powder and color.
