I’ve touched on ethical fashion a couple of times on the blog before. It’s something that I have been following along with for a while.
Trust me when I say I do plenty of window shopping on lots of ethical fashion brands websites but ultimately tend to opt for second hand clothing most of the time. However, I do treat myself from time to time to some ethically made apparel.
Most days I prefer bralettes over underwire bras. Recently, most of my bralettes that I have worn for the past couple of years were feeling quite worn out and uncomfortable so I decided it was time to do some bralette shopping.
I started browsing on Azura Bay’s website. Azura Bay offers an array of lounge wear and lingerie options from brands that produce their garments in an ethical manner, with sustainable practices, and/or that produce garments made of organic materials. I quickly found several bralettes that I liked and settled on this one!
It is from a brand called Sokoloff Lingerie. I could not be more happy with this purchase!
This Bralette Is
- super comfy
- super cute
- has a clasp closure on the back and adjustable straps
- ethically made, made with fairly traded materials, 95% organic bamboo
I’m also super appreciative of how accurate Azura Bay’s sizing guidance was in my experience.
Lastly I have to express some appreciation in regards to the price of this bralette.
As I am sure many others who are interested in ethical fashion have experienced, often times the price of an ethically made item can be much more than the cost of an item from a mainstream brand.
This little number came in at $52. I thought that this price was comparable to other bras I have purchased in the past from Victoria’s Secret.
It was super cool to see this because the inevitable additional cost of an ethically made garment (due to the additional and deserved payment to the person that produces the garment) can prohibit many of us (myself included) from purchasing from a brand that is making an effort to produce clothing in a responsible and ethical way. I’m not saying that the hesitation to purchase an ethically made item that is more expensive is unreasonable by any means; I understand that we all have budgets to stay within.
It just makes my heart happy when I see products that are responsibly made becoming more accessible. Whether this be beauty products, apparel, or just everyday items, it is a change that I would love to see more of.
